Five Things To Expect From Tiemoue Bakayoko If He Join Manchester United

Manchester United’s January transfer window was an extremely quiet one in terms of incoming transfers, as Jose Mourinho opted to stick with the players he has on his books right now. With that said, the summer could well be a busy one, and it was only last month we were linked with AS Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.

After the talented defensive midfielder played an excellent game against Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this week, we’ve decided to compile a list of five things that he’d bring to Manchester United if the move goes through.

Strength in depth

The defensive midfield spot is a part of the field we’re lacking in quite significantly at the moment. Our first choice holding midfielder is Michael Carrick, and behind that we have Marouane Fellaini and Bastian Schweinsteiger waiting in the wings – who Jose obviously doesn’t fancy. At least the signature of Bakayoko would give us another option.

Legs in midfield

When we signed Paul Pogba, our mobility in the middle of the park certainly increased significantly. We’re still somewhat lacking in that regard, and the 22-year-old France youth international would bring that in abundance. He’s a willing runner, and we’d notice a massive difference when it comes to tracking back as Bakayoko has the pace to help out his defence if needed.

Phenomenal tackler

The AS Monaco man doesn’t have the eye for a pass like the aforementioned Carrick, but he’d bring in a massive upgrade when it comes to breaking down the play and stopping an opposing attacker. His physicality and tackling is without doubt his biggest selling point, and that’s certainly what Jose Mourinho is keen on adding – particularly after losing Schneiderlin without bringing in a replacement.

Age is on his side

If any potential move does go through, his best years are still in front of him and Manchester United could greatly benefit from that. Under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, Bakayoko would only get better. Let’s not forget that he’d be able to learn from great players like Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera too.

Plenty of experience

Despite the fact that Tiemoue Bakayoko was only born in 1994 (!), he already has plenty of playing experience at the highest level under his belt. The holding midfielder already has amassed over 100 professional appearances, of which 75 have been for his current side AS Monaco. He’d be able to come in straight away and not be phased by the situation.
